Friendly Fire

Friendly Fire is a 3D platformer that I worked on for two and a half years during my undergraduate.

I was one of three members on a team to make a rapid prototype for the game, but eventually it became a multiple semester project.

Rapid Prototype

I created a rapid prototype in 2 weeks.
On a team of 3, I worked to implement a basic character controller and interactables. We made three distinct levels, each of which had a number of special interactions like zipping across fuses, dashing in a fiery explosion, and burning down wooden walls.

It was an ambitious prototype that could've used more polish, but it had a lot of content!

Refining Levels & Loop

I took on the role of Creative Director for the project.
As the team evolved, I was tasked with managing the overall design of the game. I worked with other designers to develop the various levels that would be in our final product, and refined the existing game loop to be more polished.

I learned a lot about level design and project structure at this point.

Polish & IndieCade

Our project was featured as a part of IndieCade 2019!
To get ready for the event, we put a lot of time into polish. I spent a lot of time working on the music and SFX for the game. One of our designers unfortunately had to step down, so I designed a new level to fill their place. I also spent a lot of time adding minor player feedback like VFX and camera effects.

The project ended being quite fun!
